AN ACT PERMITTING THE COMMISSIONER OF EDUCATION TO WAIVE CERTAIN REQUIREMENTS AND PROVIDE FLEXIBILITY IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF TEACHER EVALUATION PROGRAMS FOR HIGH PERFORMING SCHOOL DISTRICTS. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That section 10-151b of the general statutes be amended to authorize the Commissioner of Education to waive certain requirements relating to the teacher evaluation and support program developed by a local or regional board of education if such board is among the highest performing districts when measured using school performance index scores, as defined in section 10-223e of the general statutes, and to provide such board flexibility in designing and implementing a teacher evaluation program for such district. Statement of Purpose: To authorize the Commissioner of Education to waive new teacher evaluation and reform requirements for high performing school districts and to allow certain school districts more flexibility in designing and implementing teacher evaluation programs.
