AN ACT AUTHORIZING A REAL ESTATE CONVEYANCE TAX FOR THE PURPOSE OF FUNDING LOCAL ENVIRONMENTAL, PUBLIC HEALTH AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That the general statutes be amended to authorize municipalities to assess a conveyance tax, of up to one per cent, on buyers of real property that has a value of one hundred fifty thousand dollars or more.
Statement of Purpose:
To provide municipalities with a means to fund conservation, open space, brownfield remediation, historic preservation and water treatment and sewer projects.
