AN ACT REQUIRING THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH TO REPORT ON LYME DISEASE AND OTHER TICK-BORNE ILLNESSES. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That chapter 368a of the general statutes be amended to require the Department of Public Health, in consultation with an advisory board established to study Lyme disease, to, not later than September 1, 2013, (1) report to the joint standing committee of the General Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to public health concerning recommendations for best practices to prevent, diagnose and treat Lyme disease and other tick-borne illnesses, and (2) disseminate information to the public and health care providers concerning the prevention and treatment of Lyme disease. Statement of Purpose: To ensure the state identifies and implements best practices with regard to Lyme disease and other tick-borne illnesses.
