AN ACT CONCERNING THE DESIGNATION OF IRISH-AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH AND ITALIAN-AMERICAN MONTH AND OTHER ETHNIC, CULTURAL OR HERITAGE GROUP CELEBRATIONS. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That subsection (a) of section 10-29a of the general statutes be amended to designate March of each year as Irish-American Heritage month and October of each year as Italian-American Heritage Month and that the general statutes be amended to give the Department of Economic and Community Development the discretion to designate a day, week or month for the celebration of other ethnic, cultural or heritage groups upon the application of such ethnic, cultural or heritage group. Statement of Purpose: To honor the long history and vast contributions of Irish-Americans and Italian-Americans to the state and to allow the Department of Economic and Community Development to designate other dates to celebrate other ethnic, cultural or heritage groups.
