AN ACT HOLDING HARMLESS A PUBLIC OFFICIAL FROM THE CONSEQUENCES OF A STATE ADMINISTRATIVE ERROR.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That the general statutes be amended to provide that if an administrative error of the office of the Comptroller results in the failure of the state to pay the Social Security or Medicare contribution or payroll tax payments on behalf of an elected public official, the state shall hold harmless such official and shall pay the amount due, including any penalty or interest, on such official's behalf.

Statement of Purpose: 

To hold harmless a public official from being required to make a payment due, including penalties and interest, resulting from a state administrative error.
