AN ACT CONCERNING THE AMOUNT OF THE PREPAID WIRELESS E 9-1-1 FEE. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That section 28-30e of the general statutes be amended to provide that the prepaid wireless E 9-1-1 fee paid by a consumer who purchases prepaid wireless telecommunications service in a retail transaction in an amount of less than ten dollars shall be assessed based on a sliding scale rather than a flat fee equal to the fee assessed on a subscriber of telephone service pursuant to section 16-256g of the general statutes. Statement of Purpose: To make the fees charged to fund the enhanced emergency 9-1-1 program more equitable as between consumers who purchase prepaid wireless telecommunications service and subscribers of telecommunications service.
