AN ACT PROHIBITING THE INCLUSION OF THE ENTIRE ACCOUNT NUMBER ON BANK STATEMENTS.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
Section 1. (NEW) (Effective October 1, 2014) Each bank, out-of-state bank, Connecticut credit union, federal credit union and out-of-state credit union shall redact all but the last four numbers of a Connecticut account holder's account number on such account holder's account statement.
This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections:

Statement of Purpose:
To protect Connecticut account holders whose account statements inadvertently end up in the hands of an individual other than the account holder who is not an authorized recipient of such statement.
