AN ACT CONCERNING LARGE RETAIL STORES AND EMPLOYMENT OF WORKERS DURING THE HOLIDAY SEASON.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That the general statutes be amended to require an employer operating a retail store comprised of five thousand or more square feet to either close such retail store on certain holidays or to allow his or her employees the option of declining to work such holidays without penalty.

Statement of Purpose: 

To require retail stores of five thousand square feet or more to close on certain holidays unless employees are given the option not to work holidays without penalty.
