AN ACT REQUIRING DNA TESTING OF ANY PERSON ARRESTED FOR THE COMMISSION OF A SERIOUS FELONY.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That subsection (a) of section 54-102g of the general statutes be amended to provide that any person arrested for a serious felony be subject to DNA testing regardless of whether or not they have been previously convicted of a felony.

Statement of Purpose: 

To increase the ability of law enforcement agencies to identify perpetrators of crimes by requiring persons arrested for serious felony offenses to submit to the taking of a DNA sample.
