AN ACT CONCERNING THE CONFINEMENT OF SOWS DURING GESTATION, EGG-LAYING HENS AND CALVES RAISED FOR VEAL.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That the general statutes be amended to provide that no person shall tether or confine any gestating sow, egg-laying hen or calf raised for veal, on a farm, for all or the majority of any day, in a manner that prevents such animal from: (1) Lying down, standing up and fully extending its limbs, and (2) turning around freely.

Statement of Purpose: 

To enable farm animals to move around and be treated humanely.
