AN ACT REDUCING PROPERTY TAX LIABILITY FOR RESIDENTS OF COMMUNITIES RESERVED FOR INDIVIDUALS FIFTY-FIVE YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That the general statutes be amended to provide that a taxpayer whose residence is in a common interest ownership community, or similar community, that is reserved for individuals fifty-five years of age or older, be exempt from paying the amount of property tax on such residence that is proportionate to the amount of property tax allocated to fund schools in the municipality.

Statement of Purpose: 

To provide that a taxpayer whose residence is in a community reserved for individuals fifty-five years of age or older be exempt from paying the amount of property tax on such residence that is proportionate to the amount of property tax allocated to fund schools in the municipality.
