AN ACT PROHIBITING CERTAIN CONTRIBUTIONS OR EXPENDITURES OF STATE CENTRAL COMMITTEES.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That chapter 155 of the general statutes be amended to (1) prohibit any treasurer of a federal account, as defined in section 9-601 of the general statutes, of a state central committee from making a contribution or expenditure to, or for the benefit of, a candidate seeking a state public office; and (2) impose a civil penalty not exceeding three times the amount of any contribution or expenditure made in violation of this prohibition.

To ensure that state central committees keep state-candidate funds and federal-candidate funds properly segregated and to penalize any improper contributions or expenditures made by state central committees with federal funds for the benefit of state candidates.
