LEMAR, 96th Dist. REP. LESSER, 100th Dist. REP. PORTER, 94th Dist. AN ACT IDENTIFYING THE SOURCES OF CERTAIN POLITICAL CONTRIBUTIONS AND EXPENDITURES. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That chapter 155 of the general statutes be amended to require that any political committee organized by a Connecticut-organized business entity that makes any contribution or expenditure to promote the election or defeat of any candidate shall (1) provide details of such contribution or expenditure in a periodic report to its shareholders, members or donors, and (2) publish the details of any such contribution or expenditure on its Internet web site no later than forty-eight hours after such contribution or expenditure is made; provided no business entity shall make any such contribution or expenditure if a majority of such business entity is controlled or owned by (A) any foreign person or foreign government, (B) any business entity not organized in the United States, (C) any religious or charitable tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, or any subsequent corresponding internal revenue code of the United States, as amended from time to time, or (D) any state government or state government-funded pension. Statement of Purpose: To require Connecticut business entities to disclose certain political activity in which they engage.
