AN ACT CONCERNING THE TEMPORARY FAMILY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That section 17b-112 of the general statutes be amended to: (1) exempt from time-limited benefits persons who are pursuing high school diplomas, high school equivalency certification or associate's degrees; (2) establish a gradual reduction in benefits for persons who become ineligible for assistance; (3) eliminate the family cap reducing benefits for children born after program enrollment; and (4) redefine incapacity so that persons able to work not more than ten hours a week are exempt from time-limited benefits.

Statement of Purpose: 

To make changes in the temporary family assistance program to aid needy families.
