AN ACT CONCERNING THE TERM OF OFFICE FOR A JUDGE APPOINTED BY THE GOVERNOR.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That subsection (h) of section 51-44 of the general statutes be amended to provide that any judicial candidate or incumbent judge appointed by the Governor shall serve a term of four years from the date of appointment.

Statement of Purpose: 

To reduce the term of office for any judge appointed or reappointed by the Governor from eight years to four years.
