AN ACT CONCERNING PREGNANCY AND THE WORKPLACE.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That the general statutes be amended to impose a civil rights violation on any employer that requires (1) a pregnant applicant or employee to accept an accommodation if such applicant or employee did not request such accommodation and she chooses not to accept it, or (2) a pregnant employee to take a leave of absence from her position if another reasonable accommodation cannot be provided to her. 

Statement of Purpose: 

To expand current law requiring employers to provide reasonable accommodations to employees due to pregnancy.
