AN ACT PROHIBITING MANDATORY REGISTRATION FOR CERTAIN CONSUMER WARRANTY COVERAGE.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
Section 1. (NEW) (Effective July 1, 2015) Notwithstanding any provision of the general statutes, no manufacturer, distributor or retailer that makes an express warranty with respect to consumer goods, as defined in section 42a-9-102 of the general statutes, may condition the initial term of such express warranty on the consumer registering such consumer goods.
This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections:

Statement of Purpose:
To protect consumers by prohibiting mandatory product registration in order to obtain warranty coverage during the initial warranty term.
