AN ACT CONCERNING MANDATORY MINIMUM SENTENCES AND JUVENILES PROSECUTED AS ADULTS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That the general statutes be amended to provide discretion to judges to (1) depart from mandatory minimum sentencing schemes in a case involving a juvenile prosecuted as an adult, and (2) fashion an appropriate penalty if good cause is shown.

Statement of Purpose: 

To provide discretion to the court to depart from the mandatory minimum sentencing scheme in cases involving juveniles prosecuted as adults and fashion an appropriate penalty if good cause is shown.
