SEN. WINFIELD, 10th Dist. REP. PORTER, 94th Dist. SEN. BYE, 5th Dist. AN ACT CONCERNING MANDATORY MINIMUM SENTENCES AND JUVENILES PROSECUTED AS ADULTS. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That the general statutes be amended to provide discretion to judges to (1) depart from mandatory minimum sentencing schemes in a case involving a juvenile prosecuted as an adult, and (2) fashion an appropriate penalty if good cause is shown. Statement of Purpose: To provide discretion to the court to depart from the mandatory minimum sentencing scheme in cases involving juveniles prosecuted as adults and fashion an appropriate penalty if good cause is shown.
