AN ACT CONCERNING APPOINTMENT OF REGISTRARS OF VOTERS.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
Section 1. (NEW) (Effective from passage) (a) Notwithstanding any provision of title 9 of the general statutes, (1) in any municipality where the appointment of a registrar of voters is permitted by charter or special act, one nonpartisan registrar of voters may be so appointed, and (2) such appointment shall take effect upon a vacancy in the office of the registrars of voters or when a term of such office expires, whichever occurs first.
(b) Any duty or responsibility under the general statutes carried out by the office of the registrars of voters, or by two or more registrars of voters, of a town shall be carried out individually by such registrar appointed under subsection (a) of this section.
This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections:
