AN ACT CONCERNING BEST PRACTICES FOR PROTECTING SENIOR CITIZENS FROM INTERACTION WITH SEXUAL OFFENDERS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That the general statutes be amended to require the use of best practices for protecting senior citizens in their homes, at senior centers and at long-term care facilities from interaction with sexual offenders, including, but not limited to, procedures related to identifying persons convicted of sexual offenses and preventing such persons from entering public facilities where senior citizens may live or congregate, and that a possible modification to the sex offender registry be explored for the purpose of including a tiered system that may help law enforcement and community members better understand any possible risk posed to the community by a registered offender.

Statement of Purpose:

To employ best practices for protecting senior citizens in their homes, at senior centers and at long-term care facilities from unwanted interaction with sexual offenders, including the possibility of modification of the sex offender registry to assist in risk assessment to the senior citizen community.
