AN ACT CONCERNING MUNICIPAL REGULATION OF SNOWMOBILES AND ALL-TERRAIN VEHICLES.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That Section 14-390m of the general statutes be amended to allow any municipality to adopt an ordinance regulating the operation and use, not only of dirt bikes, but also of snowmobiles and all-terrain vehicles, with the same penalties for violations, and adding a provision that, for a third or subsequent violation of a municipal ordinance, the ordinance may provide for the seizure and forfeiture to the municipality of such dirt bike, snowmobile or all-terrain vehicle, subject to any bona fide lien, lease or security interest in the dirt bike, snowmobile or all-terrain vehicle, including, but not limited to, a lien under section 14-66c of the general statutes.
Statement of Purpose:
To permit a municipality to adopt an ordinance regulating the use or operation of a dirt bike, snowmobile or all-terrain vehicle that provides for seizure and forfeiture of the dirt bike, snowmobile or all-terrain vehicle to the municipality for a third or subsequent violation.
