AN ACT PROHIBITING CERTAIN JOINT CAMPAIGNING BY CANDIDATES FOR GOVERNOR AND LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR UNDER THE CITIZENS' ELECTION PROGRAM.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That chapter 157 of the general statutes be amended to prohibit candidates for the offices of Governor and Lieutenant Governor, prior to any primary for such offices, from jointly campaigning for the purpose of calculating contribution amounts qualifying such candidates for grants under the Citizens' Election Program.

Statement of Purpose: 

To prevent the preprimary unification of campaigns for Governor and Lieutenant Governor for purposes of qualifying for grants under the Citizens' Election Program.
