AN ACT CONCERNING A STUDY OF THE IMPACT OF HEAVY BACKPACKS ON CHILDREN.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That the Department of Education, in consultation with the Department of Public Health, conduct a study of that examines the impact of heavy backpacks on children. Such study shall (1) include, but not be limited to, the health issues created by heavy backpacks, methods available to alleviate the problem and recommendations for legislation, and (2) be submitted to the joint standing committee of the General Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to children, in accordance with the provisions of section 11-4a of the general statutes, on or before February 1, 2016.
Statement of Purpose:
To require the Departments of Education and Public Health to study the impact of heavy and overloaded backpacks on children.
