AN ACT CONCERNING THE SOUTH FIRE DISTRICT OF MIDDLETOWN.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That the State of Connecticut shall enter into a contract fee agreement, beginning July 1, 2015, with the South Fire District of Middletown to subcontract for fire services on a monthly or quarterly basis to the state facilities in and around Connecticut Valley Hospital, including Whiting Forensic, Albert J. Solnit Psychiatric Center, South Campus, and Connecticut Juvenile Training Center.
Statement of Purpose:
To alleviate the financial and tax burden cast upon the South Fire District of Middletown in 2011 when the state eliminated the Connecticut Valley Hospital Fire Department, resulting in a dramatic increase in call volume whereby the tax-paying residents of the South Fire District have assumed that responsibility with no financial support since 2011.
