Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: Section 1. (Effective from passage) Not later than February 1, 2017, the Institute for Municipal and Regional Policy at Central Connecticut State University shall submit a report containing an assessment of and recommendations for police training in the state relative to recognized national best practices to the Criminal Justice Policy and Planning Division of the Office of Policy and Management, the joint standing committee of the General Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to public safety and security, and the Office of Legislative Research, in accordance with the provisions of section 11-4a of the general statutes. The Institute for Municipal and Regional Policy shall develop such report in consultation with the coordinators of police basic training programs conducted or administered by the Division of State Police within the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection, the Police Officer Standards and Training Council, established under section 7-294b of the general statutes, and any municipal police department.
