AN ACT ADOPTING THE INTERSTATE COMPACT TO ELECT THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES BY NATIONAL POPULAR VOTE.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That title 9 of the general statutes be amended to enter Connecticut into the Agreement Among the States to Elect the President by National Popular Vote, thereby committing the state's votes in the Electoral College to the presidential candidate that wins the popular vote nationally regardless of whether such presidential candidate wins the popular vote within Connecticut.

Statement of Purpose: 

To adopt the interstate compact to elect the President of the United States by national popular vote and join other states that have already adopted the compact.
