AN ACT REQUIRING EDUCATION CONCERNING THE RISKS OF OPIOID ADDICTION AND PROPER STORAGE AND DISPOSAL OF OPIOID MEDICATION.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That the general statutes be amended to require prescribing practitioners who prescribe an opioid medication to a patient to educate such patient about the addictive risks of taking such medication and how to properly store and dispose of such medication.

Statement of Purpose: 

To enhance awareness of opioid prescription usage and risks.
