AN ACT IMPOSING AN EXCISE TAX ON BEVERAGES THAT CONTAIN ADDED SUGAR.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That title 12 of the general statutes be amended to impose a one cent per ounce excise tax on beverages that contain added sugar.
Statement of Purpose:
To combat diabetes and obesity rates in the state by imposing a one cent per ounce excise tax on beverages that contain added sugar.
