AN ACT CONCERNING COMPUTER EXTORTION.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That title 53a of the general statutes be amended to establish the crime of computer extortion in the case of a person using ransomware to illegally access a computer, taking possession of information stored on such computer and demanding payment in exchange for the relinquishment of such information.
Statement of Purpose:
To establish the crime of computer extortion.
