AN ACT INCREASING THE PENALTY FOR FAILURE TO REGISTER OUT-OF-STATE MOTOR VEHICLES WITH THE COMMISSIONER OF MOTOR VEHICLES.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That subdivision (2) of subsection (a) of section 14-12 of the general statutes be amended to increase the penalty for a resident of this state who operates a motor vehicle that he or she owns with marker plates issued by another state. 

Statement of Purpose: 

To increase the penalty for operating a motor vehicle in this state with marker plates issued by another state and thereby reduce the number of vehicles in Connecticut that are not properly registered.
