AN ACT REQUIRING HOME IMPROVEMENT CONTRACTORS TO PASS A WRITTEN PROFICIENCY EXAMINATION AND MAINTAIN LIABILITY INSURANCE.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That the general statutes be amended to require home improvement contractors to pass a written proficiency examination approved by the Commissioner of Consumer Protection and provide proof they maintain a minimum of one million dollars in liability insurance coverage prior to registration.

Statement of Purpose: 

To require home improvement contractors to pass a written proficiency examination and maintain a minimum of one million dollars in liability insurance coverage.
