AN ACT INCREASING THE PENALTY FOR CAUSING HARM TO A VULNERABLE USER OF A PUBLIC WAY.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That subsection (b) of section 14-300i of the general statutes be amended to increase the penalty for any person operating a motor vehicle on a public way who fails to exercise reasonable care and causes the serious physical injury or death of a vulnerable user of the public way.
Statement of Purpose:
To increase the penalty for motor vehicle operators who cause the serious physical injury or death of a pedestrian, bicyclist or other vulnerable user of a public way.
