AN ACT EXTENDING THE HOURS OF ELECTION DAY REGISTRATION. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That sections 9-174 and 9-19j of the general statutes be amended to (1) provide that any person who appears in person prior to eight o'clock p.m. at an election day registration location shall be admitted as an elector and permitted to cast a ballot at such election, and (2) eliminate the requirement, upon determination by the registrar of voters of a municipality that an applicant for election day registration in such municipality is an elector in another municipality, that such registrar immediately notify the registrar of voters of such other municipality and instead require that such notification be made not later than thirty days after such election. Statement of Purpose: To permit applicants in line for election day registration prior to eight o'clock p.m. to be admitted as electors and eliminate the immediate notification requirement for registrars of voters if any such applicant is an elector in another municipality according to the state-wide centralized voter registration system.
