AN ACT CONCERNING FORFEITURE OF MONEYS AND PROPERTY RELATED TO THE ALLEGED COMMISSION OF A CRIME.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That section 54-33g of the general statutes be amended to provide that the state or a municipality shall not confiscate property that is believed to have been possessed, controlled or intended for use in the alleged commission of a crime unless the defendant has been convicted of such crime.

Statement of Purpose: 

To eliminate asset forfeiture associated with the alleged commission of a crime until such time as the defendant has been convicted of the crime.
