AN ACT CONCERNING THE MOST EFFECTIVE UTILIZATION OF THE STATE'S PRETRIAL DIVERSIONARY PROGRAMS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That chapter 960 of the general statutes be amended to ensure that persons who are arrested for minor criminal violations are not required to take part in a pretrial diversionary program that bears no relationship to the crime for which they were arrested.

Statement of Purpose:

To decrease the chance for the criminal justice system to extend its reach to arrested persons beyond the reasons for which they were arrested.
