AN ACT CONCERNING UNEMPLOYMENT COMPENSATION.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That title 31 of the general statutes be amended to (1) increase the required base period wages enabling an individual to be eligible for unemployment benefits from six hundred dollars to a minimum of two thousand, (2) base benefits for construction and nonconstruction workers on claimant's highest three quarters rather than highest two quarters, (3) prohibit all individuals from receiving benefits during any period they are receiving severance pay, and (4) freeze the maximum unemployment benefit rate from increasing in any year in which the Unemployment Trust Fund is less than seventy per cent solvent.

Statement of Purpose:

To update and reform unemployment compensation and ensure that the Unemployment Trust Fund remains solvent in future years.
