AN ACT CONCERNING LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS FOR CLINICAL SOCIAL WORKERS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That section 20-195n of the general statutes be amended to permit the Department of Public Health to grant a license by endorsement to practice clinical social work to any person who has a bachelor's degree in human services or another relevant field and a master's degree in a specialized area of counseling or human services as it relates to the provision of services to hospital patients, residents of a skilled nursing facility or home health care agency clients.

Statement of Purpose: 

To protect the employment of those whose academic credentials and working history have been in the area of providing social work services but have not obtained the required statutory credentials for licensure as a clinical social worker.
