AN ACT CONCERNING HEALTH INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR USED WHEELCHAIRS.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That title 38a of the general statutes be amended to require any insurer, health care center, fraternal benefit society, hospital service corporation or medical service corporation that delivers, issues for delivery, renews, amends or continues a health insurance policy in this state that covers used wheelchairs to (1) notify any enrollee who receives a used wheelchair that the enrollee has received a used wheelchair, (2) permit the enrollee to return the used wheelchair to it not later than seven days after the enrollee's receipt of such notice, and (3) process any request for repair or replacement of a defective wheelchair.
Statement of Purpose:
To require insurers and other entities providing coverage for used wheelchairs to notify any enrollee who receives a used wheelchair that the enrollee has received a used wheelchair, permit the enrollee to return the used wheelchair within seven days after the enrollee's receipt of such notice, and process any request for repair or replacement of a defective wheelchair.
