AN ACT REQUIRING A PHARMACIST TO REVIEW A PATIENT'S RECORDS IN THE ELECTRONIC PRESCRIPTION DRUG MONITORING SYSTEM PRIOR TO DISPENSING AN OPIOID MEDICATION.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That section 21a-254 of the general statutes be amended to require a pharmacist to review a patient's records in the electronic prescription drug monitoring program prior to dispensing an opioid medication to a patient in accordance with the patient's prescription.

Statement of Purpose: 

To prevent opioid abuse.
