AN ACT PROTECTING LOCAL PUBLIC SCHOOL FUNDING BY PROHIBITING THE DIVERSION OF SUCH FUNDING.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That title 10 of the general statutes be amended to (1) prohibit the diversion of local public school funding, (2) equitably phase in increases in state funding of local education expenses, (3) use more current and accurate data to determine town wealth and measures of personal and household income, (4) use free or reduced-price meals eligibility as an indicator of poverty, and (5) include English language learner status as an indicator of additional student learning needs.
Statement of Purpose:
To make revisions to state and local funding for education.
