AN ACT CONCERNING TIMELY FILING OF CAMPAIGN FINANCE STATEMENTS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That section 9-608 of the general statutes be amended to provide that the State Elections Enforcement Commission shall deem any statement filed with such commission by the treasurer of any candidate or town committee to be timely if it is postmarked by the United States Postal Service before midnight on the required filing day.

Statement of Purpose: 

To deem filed in a timely manner with the State Elections Enforcement Commission certain campaign finance statements that are postmarked by midnight on the filing deadline.
