AN ACT ESTABLISHING A PILOT PROGRAM FOR SICKLE CELL DISEASE AWARENESS AND PREVENTION.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That the general statutes be amended to establish a pilot program requiring anyone seeking a marriage license to answer questions related to their potential for having inherited the genes related to sickle cell disease and to use the information obtained from such questions for prevention of such disease.

Statement of Purpose: 

To advance sickle cell disease awareness and prevention efforts within at risk populations of child bearing age.
