AN ACT REQUIRING PRIOR LEGISLATIVE APPROVAL OF INCREASES IN ASSESSMENTS AND USER FEES CHARGED BY THE CONNECTICUT HEALTH INSURANCE EXCHANGE.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That chapter 706c of the general statutes be amended to require that the Connecticut Health Insurance Exchange, established pursuant to section 38a-1081 of the general statutes, receive the approval of the joint standing committee of the General Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to insurance before (1) increasing the amount of any assessment or user fee, and (2) implementing or altering any process used to increase the amount of any assessment or user fee.
Statement of Purpose:
To require that the Connecticut Health Insurance Exchange receive the approval of the joint standing committee of the General Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to insurance before increasing the amount of any assessment or user fee and implementing or altering any process used to increase the amount of any assessment or user fee.
