AN ACT CONCERNING THE PENALTY FOR ENGAGING A POLICE OFFICER IN PURSUIT.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That subsection (b) of section 14-223 of the general statutes be amended to provide that a person operating a motor vehicle who increases the speed of such motor vehicle in an attempt to escape or elude a police officer who has signaled such person to stop shall receive a mandatory minimum sentence of two years and that minors be treated as adults in such cases.

Statement of Purpose:
