MARKLEY, 16th Dist. SEN. LINARES, 33rd Dist. SEN. SUZIO, 13th Dist. AN ACT CONCERNING A MANDATORY LIFE SENTENCE FOR REPEAT VIOLENT OFFENDERS. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That subsection (h) of section 53a-40 of the general statutes be amended to provide that a person who is convicted for the third time of the commission of a violent felony shall be sentenced to life imprisonment. Statement of Purpose: To enact a true "three strikes" law in Connecticut by requiring a person convicted of a third violent offense to be sentenced to life in prison.
