AN ACT CONCERNING THE REGISTRATION OF MOTOR VEHICLES REGISTERED OUT OF STATE.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That section 12-71b of the general statutes be amended to require that once a determination has been made that a motor vehicle that is not registered in this state most frequently leaves from and returns to or remains in one or more points within this state, the assessor in the municipality in which such motor vehicle most frequently leaves from and returns to or remains or the municipality in which the owner of such motor vehicle resides, shall determine the value of such motor vehicle and shall add such value to the taxable grand list.

Statement of Purpose:

To prevent the avoidance of property tax payments on motor vehicles registered out of state.
