AN ACT CONCERNING THE EXCLUSION OF STUDENT PERFORMANCE DATA ON THE MASTERY EXAMINATION FROM TEACHER EVALUATIONS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That section 10-151b of the general statutes be amended to prohibit the use of student performance data on mastery examinations, conducted pursuant to section 10-14n of the general statutes, among the multiple indicators of student academic growth for purposes of teacher performance evaluations and to require the State Board of Education to revise the guidelines for a model teacher evaluation and support program in a manner that provides for effective evaluations that do not rely on such student performance data.

Statement of Purpose: 

To prohibit the use of students' mastery test results in an individual teacher's performance evaluation.
