AN ACT CONCERNING THE PATIENT BILL OF RIGHTS FOR LONG-TERM CARE RESIDENTS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

Section 1. (Effective from passage) (a) The Commissioners of Public Health and Social Services shall study whether the patient bill of rights, established pursuant to section 19a-550 of the general statutes, adequately protects patient rights related to room transfers within the same facility. 

(b) The commissioners shall submit a report, in accordance with the provisions of section 11a-4 of the general statutes, on the results of the study not later than January 1, 2018, to the joint standing committees of the General Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to aging and public health.

To study whether the rights of patients in long-term care facilities are adequately protected for purposes of room transfers.
