AN ACT CONCERNING THE TESTING OF PUBLIC SCHOOL WATER SUPPLIES.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
Section 1. (Effective July 1, 2017) Not later than July 1, 2018, each local and regional board of education shall conduct a test of the water supply in any school building or school facility that was constructed before July 1, 1986, and shall provide the results of such test to the Department of Education and the Department of Public Health. Nothing in this section shall prevent a local director of public health from conducting the test of the water supply in such school buildings or school facilities for a local or regional board of education. A local and regional board of education may submit an application to the Department of Public Health for reimbursement of any costs associated with such test. A local or regional board of education shall be entitled to a school building project grant under chapter 173 of the general statutes if such test reveals that the water supply of such school building or school facility fails to meet water quality standards established by the Department of Public Health.
This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections:
