AN ACT ESTABLISHING A FIVE-CENT TAX ON SINGLE-USE
PLASTIC AND PAPER BAGS.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:
That the general statutes be amended to establish a five-cent tax on 1
single-use plastic and paper bags and that funds from such tax be used 2
for environmental purposes and to encourage consumers to use 3
reusable bags. 4
Statement of Purpose:
To encourage consumer use of reusable bags.
